This past NBA offseason was one to remember, as major trades, free agent signings and off the court drama highlighted league news.

The Golden State Warriors just came off their fourth championship in seven years, setting a new benchmark for future dynasties in the league. Will they be able to win it again? The Warriors lost key role players such as Otto Porter Jr. and Gary Payton II, who brought depth and valuable experience to their roster. The team is hopeful that younger players such as Moses Moody or James Wiseman can fill this void.

More recently, power forward Draymond Green got into a physical altercation with shooting guard Jordan Poole. The four-time all star was not suspended but instead was fined. Green later apologized to both Poole and his family.“ He should have been suspended at the very least,” Senior Christian Goff said.

The Boston Celtics, who were defeated by Golden State in the finals after six games, added a scoring threat in Malcolm Brogdon via free agency and have star players Jayson Tatum and Jaylon Brown signed under contract long term. Despite adding to their roster, this past offseason head coach Ime Udoka was suspended for the entirety of the NBA season for having “intimate relations” with a female staff member. This turmoil surrounding the team in addition to the overall improvement of the Eastern Conference leaves fans wondering what’s in store for Boston next season. Senior Souvik Karr said that despite all the noise, the Celtics will fulfill expectations this coming season. “I think MVP is going to be Jayson Tatum and the Celtics will win the Eastern Conference,” Karr said.

Another potential threat in the east, the Cleveland Cavaliers, acquired star shooting guard Donovan Mitchell in one of the more prominent trades during the offseason. The star shooting guard from Utah was dealt to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for multiple future first round picks and three key players on their roster in Ochai Agbaji, Lauri Markanen and Colin Sexton. Cleveland made it to the NBA play-in tournament last season before falling to the Atlanta Hawks and earned their first winning record since the 2018 season. Senior Ananth Kudaravalli is a big fan of the Cavaliers and said, “Mitchell escaped Utah, Cleveland can be a serious championship contender.”
