You finally finish waiting in the congested line leading into the concert venue, and your hands grip your ticket tighter and tighter. You’ve been wanting to see these artists for months, and now they’ll be performing in front of you in a matter of minutes.
The musicians walk out on stage, surrounded by an audience of cheering fans. Without warning, you are embraced by the music. Any stress that occupied your mind in the day escapes, and you’re left floating on top of a sea of melody, beat and rhythm.
This fall and winter, both popular and underground artists will be visiting the DMV area. Here are a few artists you may not be familiar with coming to a venue near you.
Bad Suns: American rock band Bad Suns will be traveling across the country for their “Disappear Here” tour. The group is comprised of lead singer Christo Bowman, guitarist Ray Libby, drummer Miles Morris, and bass player Gavin Bennett. The band has opened for well-known artists such as Halsey and The 1975 and their music is a blend of alternative and indie rock. Bad Suns will be performing on Oct. 29 at 6 p.m. at the 9:30 Club at a starting price of $25 per ticket.
The Drums: Ever since the release of their song “Let’s Go Surfing,” The Drums has gained significant popularity with indie pop and surf rock enthusiasts worldwide. The band was formed in 2008, yet only lead singer Jonny Pierce remains in the group. Despite the co-founder of the band Jacob Graham and guitarist Adam Kessler quitting, Pierce has been able to maintain a fierce fan base. The Drums will be performing on Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. at the Black Cat for a starting price of $20 per ticket.
Hoodie Allen: Hoodie Allen is a rapper born in Long Island, New York in 1998. When he released his debut album “All American” in 2012, it reached #1 on iTunes. His most popular song is “No Interruption,” which currently stands at a staggering 32 million views on YouTube. Allen will be performing on Nov. 22 at 8 p.m. at The Fillmore for a starting price of $31.59 per ticket.
Other, more popular artists arriving to the DMV this fall and winter season are Imagine Dragons on Nov. 11, Lady Gaga on Nov. 19, and Jay-Z on Nov. 29, all at Capital One Arena.
