Rapper, producer and fashion designer Kanye West, now known as Ye, was banned from the Grammy’s that took place on Apr. 3 due to his concerning behavior, despite winning two awards.

Ye has been an influential part of the music industry for over a decade since releasing his album “The College Dropout” in 2004 and has taken the world by storm ever since. More recently, however, he’s been a trending name because of his political affiliations and controversial behavior regarding his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian.

In 2018, the rapper was involved in a controversy with former President Donald Trump when candidly Ye said, “I love this guy.”

The political climate at the time of this meeting was at an all-time high and Ye’s support toward Trump was not taken well by the public. Nevertheless Ye managed to scrape by mostly unscathed due to his impact on the music industry.

This behavior  has mutated into a downward spiral of Ye’s mental health and stability in the public eye, which ended up taking a toll on his marriage.

In an interview with Vogue magazine, Kardashian said, “I’m going to make myself happy. And that feels really good. And even if that created changes and caused my divorce, I think it’s important to be honest with yourself about what really makes you happy.”

Ye’s response to Kardashian’s new-found freedom was to hurl insults and accusations about her and make threats toward her new partner, comedian Pete Davidson.

The final stretch comes down to his interactions with “The Daily Show” host, Trevor Noah, where he was locked out of Instagram for 24 hours due to him calling Noah a racial slur. Noah was brought into the mix because of his criticisms toward Ye and his posts harassing Kardashian and Davidson.

When bystanders complained that Kardashian had put herself in the public eye, Noah had extended his support toward her in a segment of “The Daily Show.” He explained why he felt sorry for the tabloid star when Noah said, “I get it, but there’s also an element of a woman saying to her ex, ‘hey please leave me alone.’”

Ye’s continued harassment of his ex-wife, her partner and their supporters was supposedly what got him banned from the Grammys, also considering Noah was one of the hosts. A representative for the rapper confirmed this with the reasoning said to be due to his “concerning online behavior.”

Nevertheless Ye still had five valid nominations  and ended up taking home two Grammy awards despite the prohibition of his attendance. He even broke the record for most Grammy wins for a hip hop artist in doing so.

At one point a petition was put out to ban the rapper from performing at the 2022 Coachella music festival on Change.org. Ye ended up dropping out as the headliner for Coachella, reportedly to take care of his mental health while dealing with the conflict between him and his ex-wife.
