Following the cancellation of last year’s tennis season, the boys’ and girls’ tennis teams are looking to get the 2021 season off to a strong start against Walt Whitman today. Led by a strong group of seniors, both teams look to repeat the success that they had in the 2019 season.

After their 2019 undefeated season, which resulted in a state title, the boys’ team is ed by captains Ryan Meyer, Mikey Fellman, Owen Matus and Alec Jung, the boys will be competing in their first of eight total matches this season. “I can’t wait to get back on the courts and compete after last year’s season was canceled,” Fellman said.

Moving over to the girls’ squad, they have a lot of potential as well to compete for a state title. “I was devastated that last year was cancelled but I am super excited to get to lead my team one last time as a senior,” captain Ellie Estrowitz said.

Both teams have a shortened season with eight or nine matches each, not including playoffs. Head coach and social studies teacher Nia Cresham is returning and hopes to lead her teams to back-to-back state championships.
