Each place has its own style, whether it’s classic crispy chicken, bold seasoning or flavorful wings, which makes the debate even more interesting.

For students, the experience matters just as much as the food. Buffalo Wild Wings stands out as more than just a place to eat because of its lively atmosphere and the crazy sports environment. Students go there not only for the food, but also to spend time with friends and watch big games together. Einstein junior Nick Mercado said, “I love Buffalo Wild Wings because they have not just the best fried chicken, but also the best experience. They have TVs everywhere broadcasting sports games, and I’ve made so many memories there, like watching the 2022 Champions League final with my friends when I was really young. It really feels like a core memory to me.”

Other students prefer a simpler and healthier option. Chick-fil-A is known for its chicken sandwiches, signature sauce, and extremely friendly service, making it a great choice for students. Its consistent quality and quick service make it an easy choice, especially for those with busy schedules who still want a satisfying meal. Chick-fil-A also offers a healthy menu if you don’t want the fried chicken party. Sophomore Fabio Marinaro said it stands out to him. “I like Chick-fil-A because the food is always good, no matter when you go, and the chicken sandwiches are crispy, which I love. Sometimes I feel like eating healthy, so instead of getting my normal chicken sandwich, I get the grilled chicken, which is also really good. The service is also really fast, so it’s easy to grab something quickly after school or practice. Also, did you know that if you say ‘thank you’ to one of the workers, they have to say ‘my pleasure’,” Marinaro said.

While American chains dominate the conversation, students enjoy exploring different styles of fried chicken. Korean fried chicken, for example, is known for being extra crispy and coated in flavorful sauces like soy garlic or spicy glaze. This style offers a different experience compared to traditional fried chicken and continues to grow in popularity. For junior Ethan Kwondale, who is Korean, this style of fried chicken holds a deeper meaning and connection to his culture. “I have a lot of fond memories of going to Bonchon with my grandfather when I was younger. He used to take me there all the time, and it’s something that really stuck with me. I think it’s great Korean fried chicken, and it reminds me of those moments we shared,” Kwondale said.

Another huge factor that influences students’ opinions is all the flavor options a restaurant has for its wings. Restaurants like Wingstop and Buffalo Wild Wings offer a wide range of sauces and seasonings, from mild to extremely spicy. This allows customers to customize their meals and try something new each time they visit. Having so many options keeps students coming back and makes fried chicken feel less repetitive.

Price and convenience also play a big role in deciding where students go. Fast-food chains like KFC and Popeyes are often more affordable and easier to access, especially for students who need a quick meal after school or practice. Their widespread locations and fast service make them a practical choice for busy schedules.
