From explosive fireworks to nonstop crowd sing-alongs, Bruno Mars delivered a concert as part of his Romantic Tour for his new album on May 3 at the Northwest Stadium that fans won’t forget anytime soon. Students who attended the show described the performance as energetic, emotional and filled with unforgettable moments that kept the audience engaged from the beginning to the end.
The concert exceeded expectations because of the excitement and unpredictability throughout the night. According to sophomore Savannah Lease, one of the biggest moments was when Mars played the song 24K Magic, which had the entire arena singing along. “Overall, I think the concert was really exciting and full of unexpected moments,” Lease said.
Lease also highlighted the atmosphere of the performance, saying that both the crowd and the artist brought nonstop energy to the venue. “I personally was surprised by the constant fireworks that contained a heavy amount of fire,” Lease said.
Lease described the concert as sounding even better live than when listening to the songs on alternative applications like Spotify. “I thought Bruno Mars sounded even better live because his vocals had more range and spontaneity rather than being the exact same,” Lease said.
Sophomore Jack Gray described the concert as emotional and energetic from start to finish, filled with fan favorites that had 1000s of fans singing along. “The sound was amplified by the echo of thousands of people reciprocating the music back into my ears… Best experience of my entire life, constant high energy and lots of tears,” Gray said.
Gray said the song “Risk It All” created one of the loudest reactions from the crowd and described the atmosphere as impossible to sit still in because of the excitement. “Very exciting, I couldn’t hold myself in the whole concert,” Gray said.
Mars wasn’t only singing during the concert, he was also interacting with the fans in the crowd, as Gray said that the concert was more memorable than other concerts that he has been to. “It’s definitely my favorite, none of the others compare… the other concerts I have been to are OsamaSon, Nettspend and 2Slimeyy,” Gray said.
For others, like freshman Zayd Atouf, the concert stood out because of the nonstop energy throughout the performance from the crowd. “It felt like every person in the arena knew every lyric,” Atouf said.
Atouf also said songs such as “24K Magic” and “That’s What I Like” created some of the loudest reactions of the night. “The energy never dropped for a second,” Atouf said.
Atouf also praised Mars’ stage presence and ability to interact with fans through dancing, singing, and crowd participation. “A lot of concerts focus on either the music or the visuals, but Bruno Mars balanced everything perfectly,” Atouf said.
Atouf said the concert compared favorably to others attended because of how complete the performance felt. “The combination of the vocals and audience interaction made the concert more memorable than most live performances,” Atouf said.
The concert left students with the same conclusion. Bruno Mars continues to be one of the most entertaining live performances today because of the combination of energetic performances as well as being one of the best musical artists.
