Comet Ping Pong provides for great food and laid back atmosphere.

Since 2006, Comet Ping Pong has provided great meals, games and an exciting place to spend time with friends and family. Comet Ping Pong is located in Washington, D.C., and has been a staple of the food scene in the DMV. The restaurant provides their patrons with unique pizza options in addition to a plethora of ping-pong tables available in the restaurant to play.

This restaurant seemed like it had the potential to stand out due to the combination of good food and the fun recreational option so I wanted to try it out. Fortunately for me, Comet Ping Pong did not disappoint and exceeded all reasonable expectations.

When I first entered Comet Ping Pong, I was greeted with the sight of multiple matches of ping-pong going on, a local band that was playing music in the back of the restaurant and a menu so large it seemed impossible to ever decide what I was going to order for dinner. This unique restaurant was unlike anything I had seen before. On a busy Saturday night, the place was bustling with customers. Busy evenings usually call for slower service, however, the service was excellent. After I sat down, I was ready to order from their expansive menu, which included signature pizzas and the option to create your own. I customized a cheese pizza with ham. While my order was basic and uninteresting, the excitement that lay ahead made up for it.

After I placed my order, I had the opportunity to explore this unique restaurant. In the back of the restaurant, you could see a local band performing a Saturday night show. In the front of the restaurant there was an open bar. Located in the middle of the restaurant was the star of the show: the ping-pong tables. The ping-pong tables provided for an amazing “wait for your meal” experience. As I waited for my pizza, I was able to play a few matches and I was thoroughly impressed. For a restaurant, the atmosphere provided for exciting and competitive matches that helped to pass the time while I waited for my meal. One game led to another and before I knew it, my food was ready.

After completing my match and heading to my table, I quickly gazed upon the large pizza lying in front of my seat. This six piece pizza runs you $16.99 but is well worth it. Not only was the quality of ingredients excellent, but the large size left me with plenty of leftovers, which ended up providing for multiple meals. This pizza gives you a good value at the price you pay and the ability to customize allows for everyone to get something they like.

Comet Ping Pong was one of the most unique restaurants I have ever attended. Being able to play pong and listen to live music during dinner made this not only an excellent meal but a worthwhile experience. If you ever find yourself in D.C., I would highly recommend checking out this great local spot for a fun and enjoyable dinner with friends or family.
