Though winter is just around the corner, there are still opportunities to participate in all the fun fall has to offer. This fall has been unexpectedly warm, allowing more outdoor activities to occur.

Going to the pumpkin patch is a common activity. Pumpkin patches near us include Butler’s Orchard and Homestead Farm. Both offer pumpkin picking, a wide variety of fall-themed food and farm animals. With only a small fee, visiting a pumpkin patch is a great way to create a fun memory with friends and family. “When I went to the pumpkin patch this year, I got six huge pumpkins, apple cider donuts and got to see goats,” senior Mathew Cortes said.

Carving pumpkins is another common fall activity. Faces or designs can be put on a pumpkin. “After purchasing pumpkins I picked myself, my friend and I spent the night carving funny faces onto our pumpkins. I love seeing mine sit on my doorstep,” junior Bianca Diamond said.

Fall also calls for a classic autumn movie night. With a variety of fall decorations, fall-themed snacks, and a good scary movie, it can make for a cute night with friends or family. “My friends and I got a bunch of Halloween candy and cookies from Safeway. Then we went to my house to watch scary movies together,” senior Lindsey McNey said.

Halloween is a highly anticipated holiday that happens on Oct. 31. On Halloween, you can go trick-or-treating, have a party with your friends, or just stay in and watch spooky movies. Horror movies that are trending this year are “Halloween,” “Scream VI,” and “The Nun 2.” “This Halloween season I’ve done a lot. I’ve attended multiple Halloween parties and expect to go trick-or-treating with my friends on Halloween night. After we trick or treat, we are going to go to my house to eat all our candy and watch movies,” Diamond said.

Another Halloween-inspired activity is attending haunted mazes such as Markoff’s and the Field of Screams. With a roughly $50 entry fee, this spooky experience is a way to bond with friends and get in the Halloween spirit. “We shared many laughs and many screams, but going to Markoff’s for the last time with my friends is an experience I will always remember. The actors there were amazing and made the experience that much better,” senior Kelly Ren said.

With this being the last Halloween for seniors, they are pushing to do all their last activities together. “This Halloween my boys and I have spent every moment together since it’s our last Halloween together, and not one day has been a disappointment,” senior Turner Purvis said.
