Junior Carrie Wang

Junior Carrie Wang is more than just an adequate student. She juggles a variety of different extracurricular activities, honor societies and jump started the school’s chapter of Paper Bridges last year.

With her busy schedule, she had to master time management and have her priorities in order at an early age. In addition to school and extracurriculars, she still manages to spend time with her family. She uses those connections and relationships to help spread Paper Bridges’ message and to get those in her community involved in its cause.

She has found an effective and efficient way to keep track of all her school work. She has also found a way to keep track of all her upcoming plans. “I use Google Calendar to balance my time,” Wang said. “It is very helpful.”

In addition to keeping track of her work load, she also fits time in her schedule to hang out with her friends. Even though we are in a global pandemic, she still tries to find the time to see others in some way. “Due to COVID-19, I’m not able to see Wang often, but every now and then we would find time to hangout together,” friend and junior Katelyn Cheng said.

Wang is an outgoing person who has a lot of drive and determination toward the things she is most passionate about. She shows an abundance of dedication through everything she has accomplished in the club. “I think Wang is an awesome and wholesome person,” Cheng said. “I’m so glad to see how hard she has worked for her club.”

In addition, she is a  leader in all aspects of her life and strives to do her best for everyone. She is a conversationalist and always tries to interact with everyone. “Wang is a really energetic leader who you can always count on to get the job done and inspire others,” junior Caitlyn Kwan said.

As the president of Paper Bridges she takes on a lot of responsibilities. She spends a huge chunk of every week planning and preparing for upcoming events and meetings. “A few hours every week, I mostly send emails, make slideshows and set up events,” Wang said.

Wang has three officers who stay by her side to help her out with certain aspects of the club. Kwan is the treasurer, junior Ethan Fayne is the vice president and junior Rob Carpenter is the secretary. “We often have meetings for just officers to plan upcoming meetings and events that are crucial for our club,” Kwan said, “A lot of planning and effort goes into our meetings and events to make sure everything runs as smoothly as it does.”

Paper Bridges has changed Wang for the better and has had an enormous impact on her life. “Starting Paper Bridges has helped me meet more people as well as gain more leadership experience. I think my biggest takeaway is about making a difference in the community and I love seeing the pictures and videos of the orphanages overseas receiving our materials,” Wang said.

She loves witnessing the change she is creating and has learned a lot from this. “Starting Paper Bridges has helped me meet more people as well as gain more leadership experience,” Wang said. “I think my biggest takeaway is about making a difference in the community and I love seeing the pictures and videos of the orphanages overseas receiving our materials.”
