Coachella: It’s a word we’re all familiar with, but just can’t relate to. The annual music festival takes place in the California desert, far from the suburban climate of Montgomery County. However, at this school we have our own roster of talented musicians who put Coachella to shame. Introducing the (hypothetical) Woot-chella 2018 lineup.
The cast of The Music Man: The newest group of singers, dancers, and the orchestra pit from this year’s spring musical certainly has the musical prowess to headline our music festival. If the incredible productions over the past two weeks are any indication, the Music Man cast has no problem performing on stage with class and grace. They would be the perfect addition to the Woot-chella lineup as their stage presence would undoubtedly attract an audience.
Lucia and Liam Splittgerber: Who doesn’t love a family act? Junior Lucia and freshman Liam Splittgerber are a talented sibling duo whose acoustic vibes would perfectly fit the layback environment of Woot-chella. Following their stellar opening performance at Coffeehouse on April 19, Lucia and Liam have already made an impression on the school community and their inclusion in this lineup would be completely justified.
Aishlinn Kivlighn: A powerhouse voice is necessary for any musical festival and that of sophomore Aishlinn Kivlighn would certainly fill the main stage of Woot-chella. Her outstanding vocals have been showcased in a number of school events including Coffeehouse where she expertly performed “The Only Exception” by Paramore. Kivlighn can take on all kinds of music style from an acoustic slow jam to a dramatic Broadway show tune, making her a more than ideal performer.
Graham Bright: Already one of this school’s most established and recognizable musicians, senior Graham Bright would feel right at home on the Woot-chella stage. The singer and rapper is a mainstay of this school’s music scene, engaging in events such as POTH, while simultaneously having a mainstream following as his original works frequently rack up thousands of listens on SoundCloud as well as Apple Music and Spotify. It’s no question that Bright is a necessary act.
Acabellas: Serving as one of this school’s three a capella groups, the Acabellas are a must-see act when it comes to impressive and memorable performances. From art assemblies to singing Valentines to pep rallies, this group is prevalent in nearly every artistic school activity. The Woot-chella festival would be the perfect place for the Acabellas to take center stage, possibly debuting new arrangements for some of the biggest pop songs of the last decade.
