A month ago people worldwide sat down to watch the highly anticipated trailer of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

No one could have guessed that Dec. 17 would be the day to change the Marvel cinematic universe forever. The third Spider-Man movie would finally be introduced to the world for everyone to appreciate. This movie is one of the most highly anticipated Marvel movies and the imagination of its fanbase is unparalleled.

A month ago, on Nov. 16, the long-awaited trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home surfaced. People all over the world were quick to press play and see what was to come for Peter Parker. Fortunately, there was an abundance of positive reviews and excited fans.

For those who are new to the Spider-Man movies, they are based mainly off of the comics. They center around a teenage boy named Peter Parker who was bitten by a radioactive spider and gained superpowers. With these powers, he turns into a friendly neighborhood superhero and ultimately joins the Avengers.

This movie is believed to start immediately where the second movie ended. In the end of the second movie, Spider-Man: Far From Home, the main villain, Mysterio, exposed Parker’s identity to the whole world, making him out to be the bad guy. Now in this movie Parker is trying to fix his reputation and expose the truth of what actually happened the day Mysterio died.

Now that Spider-Man’s identity is revealed, Parker asks for help from Doctor Strange, which turns up the stakes. In addition to Dr. Strange, this movie has the original friends of Spider-Man, Ned Leeds and Michelle Jones, as well as Happy Hogan and Parker’s Aunt May. There will also be villains from other Spider-Man movies, from previous generations, making a return. From the trailer alone you can see some of the Sinister Six, like Electro, Sandman, Doctor Octopus and the Green Goblin.

With Dr. Strange and all these old villains making an appearance, this movie introduces the idea of the multiverse. This made a lot of fans extremely excited because this concept leaves possibilities for a lot of new movies to come in the future. It also gave fans leeway to come up with theories of their own about the new movie.

In the past, Marvel has been known to be super secretive about their movies. They have also been caught editing out spoilers from their trailers. Most fans caught on to one of these edits and are theorizing possible ideas of what it can be.

Due to the rise of the multiverse concept, people are now believing that not only old villains will return. People are investigating the possibility that the old versions of Spider-Man played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will return as well. This idea has definitely upped the ante for this movie and increased the excitement and anticipation that comes with it. Now fans are anxiously waiting to see if what they theorized will become a much-wanted reality.
