Groups of students sit on the turf during lunch.

For those students who are attending school in person, after sitting at a desk all morning, students wait patiently for their break from learning. Students enjoy having a break to catch up on work, eat and relax.

Another plus to the lunch period is spending time with friends, which students missed while virtual. Students can choose from several different spots during their lunch break.

Having different options allows students to have flexibility to use their time how they would like. Students are also able to meet with teachers and work on assignments.

Sitting in the Commons is one of the options. The Commons has a much smaller crowd, which some students like.  Rows of desks lined up in the Commons, which are perfect for studying or completing school work. The desks are spread out, which is great for staying safe while eating.

Another option includes sitting in the gym where students can spread out and sit along the bleachers.

The gym is a more social location compared to eating in the Commons. Due to restrictions, students have to sit apart, which can make it hard to hear each other.

Sitting outside in either the courtyards or stadium is a popular option and where most students end up sitting. Sitting outside allows students to get fresh air and relax.

The courtyard has a seating limit in place. Only a few students are able to stay in the courtyards at a time.

Unlike the courtyards, there are no limits to the number of students allowed in the stadium where students can choose from sitting on the turf or in the bleachers.

My favorite place to eat lunch is the turf. I like how it’s so open and spacious. It’s easy to sit in a circle with friends, it is also nice to be outside especially when it’s warm.

Students enjoy going outside since they are able to move around after sitting all morning. Some students walk around the track, while others kick around a soccer ball.  “My favorite place to eat lunch is the turf. I like how it’s so open and spacious.
