The Mandalorian season two receives raving reviews
The Mandalorian is a T.V. series exclusively available on the streaming service Disney+, starring Pedro Pascal as the Mandalorian or “Mando.” Season two began on Oct. 30 and has aired four episodes. Each episode is about 40 minutes long.
The show is about a lone gunfighter who travels around the outer galaxy in the Star Wars universe. The first season of the Mandalorian aired last fall and had a total of eight episodes or what they call “Chapters.”
The Mandalorian is set to take place five years after the “Return of the Jedi” and 25 years before “The Force Awakens.” If you’re not familiar with these movies, in chronological order “Return of the Jedi” is the sixth movie, and “The Force Awakens” is the seventh.
A Mandalorian is a bounty hunter, a person who pursues a criminal or fugitive for whom a reward is offered. Mando is like Mandalorian Boba Fett, who is the most famous Mandolorian in the Star Wars universe.
Mando is in what is known as “the tribe,” formed after a civil war broke out and only a few Mandalorians survived on the planet of Navarro. The Tribe people, or members, say “This is the way” as a mantra.
The first season was a different but exciting way of looking at the Star Wars universe. So far, the second season hasn’t brought in those same reviews. “I loved the first season and was very excited about season two but the first three episodes were pretty disappointing,” freshman Nikhil Bakshi said.
With new episodes on the Mandolorian arriving in the upcoming weeks, viewers have expressed optimism that the show will pick it up a bit. “The first two episodes of season two I thought were pointless for the show as the storyline was not moving forward but the third episode started to move the story and now I think the rest of the season is going to be great,” senior Riya Kohli said.
The Star Wars movies coming to an end may have led to beliefs that there will be no future in the famous and beloved Star Wars universe. Those beliefs were wrong, even though there probably won’t be a new Anikan Skywalker or Luke Skywalker, the Mandolorian will carry on the Star Wars universe for the time being.
One of the most important things about the show happened in season one when Mando got a job to find a 50-year-old species. This species turned out to be what people are calling “Baby Yoda.” If you know Star Wars you know Yoda was one of the most powerful Jedi in the galaxy. With Yoda no longer being alive, “Baby Yoda” could be the future of the Star Wars universe.
