The JV boys’ lacrosse team finished off their season at 6-1-2. They had many ups and downs throughout the season, but finished with an impressive record. Their final two games were against Northwest and The Heights.
On May 3 the Patriots played The Heights and lost 8-4. The Heights controlled the tempo for pretty much the whole game. They came out strong with six goals, but the Patriots weren’t ready to give up yet. The defense held The Heights’ offense for a short period of time while the Patriot offense went to work. They scored four unanswered goals to lower The Heights’ lead to only two goals.
Sophomores Martin Rodriquez, Jack Brinksman, Aiden Graham, and Ari Glazier each scored one goal apiece. The rest of the game the offense was silent and despite the defense playing pretty well, they let up two more goals. Sophomore Michael Gordon said, “The Heights are a good time and despite the loss I thought we played well. It was good to see some tough competition that we normally don’t see.”
On Apr. 27 the Patriots played Northwest. The Patriots came into this game ready to go and the score showed. The Patriots had the momentum the whole game and didn’t let up a single goal. The defense was shut down all game and held Northwest’s top offensive players to not even a single goal. On the other side of the field the Patriots offense was going on all cylinders. They scored nine unanswered goals. Among those who scored were freshman Ian Smith, Rodriquez, Glazier and Gordon. Smith said, “It felt good to shutout Northwest. Both the defense and offense played really well and we were able to come out with a win.”
With the JV season over, Glazier and freshman Logan Kolisack got the call up to varsity to help the team in their playoff run. Glazier said, “It is nice to have the opportunity to play with varsity for the rest of the season. It was a good way to end our successful season.”
