The JV Baseball team is having one of their most historic seasons as they hold an impressive record.
Lead by freshmen catcher James Walsh, freshman pitcher Brady Weiss and sophomore Hank Breen, the team looks to end their season on a high note. “This year has been a great year with a great group of guys and I can’t see us losing for the rest of the year. We have great chemistry and the most talented roster in the county,” freshman pitcher Liam Miller said.
On Apr. 10, the boys were at home against Clarksburg and won 5-2. It was a hard fought battle, but the Patriots ran away with it at the end of the game. The team didn’t seem to get anything working at first, but then got a spark and when Walsh hit a key single in the game, he sealed the win for the team, “We started slow but we all stayed together and pulled it out. It was a huge team win,” Walsh said.
On Apr. 12, the Patriots traveled to Blair to see if they could extend their win streak. It was a slow game, but the Patriots ended up on top 1-0. The team had an off game but the great leadership by Breen helped the team stay together and get the win. Yet again, the team was lead by Walsh who hit a crucial double to get the Patriots going, “No one was really hitting well against Blair but we played great in the field and were able to pull this one out,” Miller said.
On Apr. 15, the Patriots traveled to Gaithersburg. This was a crazy game that ended up with the Patriots mercy ruling Gaithersburg with a score of 15-1. The team was led by Weiss, who pitched a great game and had a huge double that hyped up the team. “This was one of my favorite games this year. Everyone got it going and I have never mercy ruled a team before,” freshman pitcher Dayson Miller said.
The Patriots were looking to go 10-1 when they play Whitman on Apr. 24, too late to be included.
