When sitting down to write my final article of my high school career, I had a hard time thinking of what to say. I want this to be something special and meaningful, so I’m writing from the heart.
This entire school year I kept saying to myself, “I can’t wait to be done and graduate.” It was stressful applying to colleges while also taking the hardest class at this school, AP Physics C. Even a month ago, I was still telling myself that I can’t wait to finally be done and leave all of this behind. However, there’s this phenomenon that I’ve heard a lot about but never really believed. People say that during the final month of senior year, seniors start getting closer with each other and start making friends with people they’ve never talked to before. That is exactly what happened to me. I’ve been making a lot of new friends with people that I never thought I would talk to. It’s a shame that I only became friends with them at the end of senior year. Now, I’m not as excited to be done, I’m a little sad.
If I had to give one piece of advice, it’s to be kind. I know that sounds incredibly cliche, but I think in order to live a fulfilling life, one must be kind. As human beings, we were made for each other; it’s only natural to be kind to your fellow neighbor. That’s why I love characters such as Superman so much. People who know me are aware of how much I talk about and post about Superman. He embraces kindness in a world that doesn’t always make it easy to be kind. I love this character so much because he embodies hope and kindness, inspiring me to always be the best version of myself.
I hope that through my connections at this school, I have inspired others to be great. I also hope to be remembered as the guy who built the Iron Man suit. And if I had to leave off with one last thing, I would leave with this quote from “The Perks of Being a Wallflower:” “I know these will all be stories someday and our pictures will become old photographs. We’ll all become somebody’s mom or dad. But right now these moments are not stories. This is happening… and in this moment I swear, we are infinite.”
