Wake up, go to school, do homework, eat dinner, go to sleep, repeat. These routine moments represent the never-ending cycle of a high school student over the course of four years. As the fourth marking period begins, students are eager to finish off this quarter quickly so summer can arrive.
However, seniors are starting to realize that they may never live this routine again. As the fourth quarter begins for seniors, they have fun events to look forward to, and events that have passed to reminisce about.
One event that seniors have been waiting for is prom. This year, prom is on Saturday, May 17. Uddin and his prom group plan to go to D.C. for pictures, have dinner somewhere nearby, and then go to the actual prom event that is being held at the Fillmore in Silver Spring. Senior Moe Uddin said, “I’m excited for prom because it’s one of the last events of the year. I am excited to go with my date and be with my friends.”
Senior Ava Bull is also excited for prom. “I already bought my dress a few months ago from a cute boutique with my mom. I can’t wait to make memories with my friends and boyfriend before the school year ends. I am also excited because prom is a once in a lifetime event since it’s only for seniors. It will be fun to see everyone dressed up and I’m looking forward to getting cute pictures to look back on,” Bull said.
Earlier in the year, seniors planned skip days. These days are announced ahead of time and can be used as a day to relax, hang out with friends, or catch up on work. Senior Mani Javanbakht reminisces on the skip day earlier this year that took place on Nov.1. “I enjoyed our first senior skip day because it allowed me to recover from the college and scholarship applications and tune down. I ended up going to work with my mom in Washington, D.C., and explored our beautiful capital in the early morning,” Javanbakht said.
Senior Anshi Tolani is looking forward to beach week. “I am excited for beach week the most because we’re staying in a really cozy beach house with an outdoor shower. I’m also really excited for the themes during the week, specifically the college theme because I think it’s going to be really cool seeing where everyone is going.”
Senior Kailey Waxman is looking forward to the senior picnic. Senior picnic is being held on May 16t, from 6-8 p.m. here at school. “I am excited for the picnic because it will be one of the last times that the entire grade is together besides graduation and beach week. I am hoping there will be a pretty sunset too.”
Even though the school year is coming to an end, seniors have events to look forward to, making the most of their last semester of high school ever.
