Chicken nuggets, waffle fries and milkshakes are all fast food favorites. Excelling in frying and “my pleasure,” North American fast food chain Chick-fil-A is the go-to for quick, crispy and creamy delicacies six days a week.
Commonly identified by its red branding, the Chick-fil-A located in College Park is represented in blue.
Opened in September 2023, Little Blue Menu serves Chick-fil-A classics alongside fast food favorites such as pizza, burgers and onion rings. Thus far, the College Park test kitchen location is the only Chick-fil-A serving the larger, unique menu.
On Mar. 1, I went to College Park to taste the infamous food. The menu is massive. The building is also quite large, but the restaurant itself is tiny. With just an ordering and pickup line and restrooms, there is no indoor seating, only outdoor.
For $54.29, I got eight items, including a drink and two free side sauces. My main food of fascination was the Chick-fil-A pizza. It is safe to say that the pizza did not reach my expectations. Being mainly dough, the pizza lacked enough sauce and chicken, leading to my disappointment.
The pizza was low on my ranking, being just better than the regular boneless wings. The original Chick-fil-A nuggets are much better than the regular boneless wings that were more like chicken bites and lacked flavor. They made good dippers to taste the sauces with. I tried garlic parm, which was strong but good, and white barbeque. I wasn’t sure what “white barbeque” was, but it tasted fine.
The signature burger was better than an average McDonald’s burger but does not compare to those from burger-focused chains such as Shake Shack. The bun was fluffy and buttery and the signature sauce added great flavor. As for sides, the onion rings and sweet potato tots were both high quality with the perfect crunch, the tots having an adequate sweetness and the rings having a teffric onion-to-coating ratio.
At the top of my ranking, I put the bone-in sweet kick wings and the cinnamon roll. It is not shocking that a chicken chain can make a good wing, but these wings were shockingly fantastic. The sauce reminded me of a Chinese food item and the wings were bar quality. I would say they are the main items to try if visiting Little Blue Menu.
To my surprise, the cinnamon roll was also outstanding. It was surprisingly bakery quality, containing a crunchy, croissant-like outer layer, with a doughy center, all covered in a super sweet icing.
The concept of Little Blue Menu is a fun-tasting experience and a higher quality fast food option. If Chick-fil-A expanded certain items on the blue menu, such as the cinnamon roll or a side of the sweet kick wing sauce, to other locations, they would be a great addition that would be a strong attraction to customers.
