While school isn’t about shoes, it is about education. So, let’s educate you on the best shoes to wear during the fall and winter seasons.
The fall and winter seasons bring in cooler weather, changing leaves, and the desire to wear comfortable yet stylish shoes. Depending on what you prioritize in your shoes, there is a choice for everyone. Whether aiming for comfort, durability, or a fashion statement, there are plenty of options to keep your feet warm and looking great this season.
If you are a student-athlete, these shoe brands are for you: Nike, New Balance, Hokas, Adidas and Asics. These brands provide sneakers that are great for all types of activities. Whether you’re going on a run, a walk, biking, or any other activity, sneakers are the best option. Sneakers are more comfortable and flexible than heavier winter boots, allowing students to move more easily during the seasons, at least when there is no snow on the ground. “I like wearing sneakers, they are very comfy and they are great for everyday use,” junior Aadi Chaudhari said.
When walking around this school, you can tell which students prefer warmth and comfort when you see shoes such as Uggs, Birkenstocks, slides, and Crocs. Uggs are common for students during the cold season. There are multiple types of Uggs to wear, such as Tasman, minis, slippers and regular boots. Birkenstocks’ most popular style for the winter is the clogs; they are comfortable and you can get them with fur to give the warmth you’re looking for. Crocs provide a wide variety of options; they have boots and they have options that have fur in them, providing extra warmth. Slides provide comfort but don’t give as much warmth, so they are mostly worn in early fall. The unique options of Uggs, Birkenstocks, slides, and Crocs are great for outdoor functionality, making them ideal for school settings. “I love wearing Uggs in the winter because they are very comfortable and easy to wear every day,” junior Addison Purvis said.
When it comes to real winter shoes, the best are boots. While students don’t particularly wear snow boots to school, they wear them on snow days. Whether you are sledding, skiing/snowboarding, or just out walking in the snow, boots are the best option. Brands include Timberland, Sorel, Hunter, and L.L. Bean. There are many more to choose from and they are sold at Dicks, Target, and a lot of other department stores, making them easy to access. “I go snowboarding often in the winter so snow boots are important to me. The brand I like is Timberland because they are very durable,” junior Vikram Mishra said.
