Burritos are the original way to go at Chipotle. They are a juicy big fat tortilla wrapped with endless toppings filled to the brim. People sometimes prefer the original burrito, as they started with, and continue to order each time they arrive at Chipotle.
Customers simply don’t want to change to the bowls as they feel comfortable with the classic and bona fide burrito. Drew Magary at Deadspin, believes that the only reason to order a burrito bowl is that you are on a low-carb diet or “in the middle of a job interview.” He believes people get bowls because they think they are healthier than burritos. Also, the burrito is “unimpeachable” according to Magary. The tortilla also tastes better and is around 300 calories, so it doesn’t make that much of a difference. This is an important factor for people who are working out as the burritos do provide more calories for people trying to gain the extra muscle. Senior Luke Brunner who likes burritos said, “Burritos have more calories for gains.”
However, bowls are just so much better. First, you can get a burrito by getting a bowl at Chipotle and a side tortilla for 50 cents. This is crazy as bowls come with way more food than burritos and you can just make a burrito with the 50-cent extra tortilla. This option gives you way more food and you can get creative with how you eat the bowl, for example, you can use the tortilla for half the bowl and then eat the rest regularly. According to Lifehacker, “The bowls at Chipotle and other restaurants usually cost about as much as burritos, but they can hold way more stuff: More meat, more beans, more rice, and significantly more salsa.”
This proves that bowls are superior to burritos. According to junior Aadi Chaudari, “You have the ability to get more food in a bowl and you get it quicker as it takes less time to prepare since you don’t have to wait for them to roll a burrito.”
Burritos also always fall apart. The Chipolte workers need to wrap them better, or they will end up being eaten bowl-style. Another good reason why the bowl is better is the lid. The lid on a Chipotle bowl keeps everything fresh and secure, preventing spills, unlike a burrito that is hard to take home and eat later. The bowl also keeps everything clean. With Burritos there is sauce all over your fingers, guac on your shirt, and sour cream on your face. With the bowl, it is easy to eat with a fork which takes out all the mess and trouble of the crumbly burrito.
Bowls are just too good to pass up on. Even if you like burritos, get a bowl as the 50- cent side tortilla, as it is made to eat your bowl like a burrito with even more food than a burrito so there are still leftovers to eat like a bowl. Hopefully, Chipotle customers will see the benefits of bowls atop burritos and appreciate the easy, convenient, and spill-proof nature the bowls provide over burritos as well as the many other conveniences that come with selecting the bowl.
