As high school soccer season nears its end, high school players are facing a critical decision. The players have to decide whether to continue their soccer careers in college. With only a small percentage of high school athletes making the leap to collegiate soccer.
Freshman Fabio Marinaro said that he wants to play collegiate soccer and to get there he wants to use a plan in order to train in the most effective way to reach his goals. Marinaro said that his goal is to play college soccer at a division one team by implementing his plan to train over his next four years at high school. “My plan to get there consists of a process and journey of hard work and discipline. In order to be one of the best you need to train like the best. My way of doing that would be to stick to a strict training routine through staying disciplined in order to sharpen my skills as much as possible” Marinaro said.
Sophomore Jack Zincke said that he doesn’t want to play soccer at a college level and that he would prefer to focus on his academics. He said that his preferred career choice would not be an athlete but an engineer. “I want to be an engineer and make lots of money,” Zincke said.
Sophomore Rohin Garg said that he wants to play soccer at a college level after high school. He feels that the best way to get there is to train every day to improve his skills and to eat healthy food and he wants to preferably go to a division one school but a division two or three school is more realistic to him. “Training for multiple hours every day, eating healthy and being on a diet, and going to showcases to show what I can do,” Garg said.
Sophomore Prayag Upadhyay said that his future career would not involve soccer and that he doesn’t plan to play soccer when he reaches college and he would rather go to a good college and major in finance rather than continue his soccer career.” I plan to go to a top 25 college and major in finances” Upadhyay said.
Freshman Jacob Stubbins said that he plans to play soccer when he reaches a college level and he wants to get to that level by training hard and working hard to achieve the goals. Stubbins said he is unsure of the level that he wants to play at but he said the minimum level would be a division 3 level. “I plan to get to the level by training hard,” Stubbins said.
Sophomore Vir Maniar said that instead of playing soccer he would rather focus his attention on physics and mechanics. Maniar said that his plan is to go to a good college and graduate with. “ I want to go to a top 25 school in physics and mechanics then get a masters degree,” Maniar said.
