As the leaves start to fall from the trees and the weather starts to get cooler, students begin to watch seasonal movies and shows. With the loads of schoolwork students have, it is always a good idea to sit down and relax. There is no better way to do that than with a fall movie or show.
A popular show among students is “Gilmore Girls,” which can be streamed on Netflix or Amazon Prime video. The show is a multigenerational drama about family and friendship. The show centers around Lorelai Gilmore and her daughter Rory in a small town called Stars Hollow. This show explores personal growth and relationships, and dives into Rory’s academic ambitions and Lorelai’s journey as a single mother and businesswoman. “‘Gilmore Girls’ is my favorite fall show because it gets me in a cozy fall mood,” senior Kailey Waxman said.
Junior Zoi Bourazani is also a big Gilmore Girls fan. “I like Gilmore Girls in the fall because the show gives off a nice fall vibe.”
Senior Ava Bull said she enjoys watching the well-known movie, “It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.” This movie is a classic Halloween special where Linus waits all night in a pumpkin patch for the Great Pumpkin, who he believes will bring presents to all the well behaved children. Meanwhile, Charlie Brown and his friends go trick or treating and have a Halloween party. This movie can be streamed on Apple TV. “I always find myself rewatching Charlie Brown in the fall and winter. It’s such a fall vibed movie and brings back nice childhood memories,” Bull said.
Bull also recently got into the series “The Vampire Diaries.” The Vampire Diaries, also known as TVD, is a supernatural drama series that follows main character Elena Gilbert, a high school girl who falls in love with a 162-year-old vampire named Stefan Salvatore. The series explores the complexities of their relationship especially when Stefan’s brother, Damon enters the show. TVD is full of supernatural events in the town of Mystic Falls including other vampires, witches and werewolves. TVD can be streamed on Peacock, Hulu, Amazon Prime video and other streaming platforms. “I just started watching The Vampire Diaries last month and am still watching since there are so many seasons. It definitely gives off a fall vibe and is fun to watch since some of the characters are in highschool as well,” Bull said.
“The Nightmare before Christmas” is another popular fall movie that follows Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of HalloweenTown. Jack becomes bored with the same Halloween traditions and comes across Christmas Town. He decides to take over Christmas, which leads to misadventures as Jack attempts to bring a scary twist to the Christmas season. This movie can be streamed on Disney Plus, Amazon Prime Video, and YouTube. “I like to watch this movie because it’s spooky for Halloween,” Waxman said.
