My high school experience has been a rollercoaster of different emotions with each year being unique. As a senior I now reflect on my past experiences and the different obstacles I overcame.
Freshman year was just a fever dream. Online learning was a challenge as I had no communication with my friends other than texting and seeing their name on Zoom. For me It was hard to focus as not being able to see my teachers in person or have people around just made it boring and depressing. Still pushing through I am thankful for that time and how it shaped me as a student for the rest of high school.
Sophomore year was the real start. This was our first year in the building, which was so exciting, plus I got to meet all of my friends from middle school and see new faces. Except we all had masks on: At first it was weird but we all needed to be safe during that time especially as Covid was rising again. Even with masks on, I still got the real feel of high school like going to class and going home on the bus every day. At first it was a little weird and uncomfortable but as the time went on I got more comfortable and started meeting all kinds of new people.
Junior year was a stressful time. I never really believed when people would say junior year was the hardest but then I started to really relate to it. The beginning of the year was pretty good as we were coming off our first year. This was when it started to just become repetitive and the real high school experience started: so much work from my teachers and every class mattered. This taught me how to organize my time and kept me in check for every class. I really learned a lot from junior year and the end was the best with the excitement of starting senior year
Senior year was the best time in high school. Everything about this school year was picture perfect. While the beginning may have been hard with college applications, as soon as that time was over it was the best feeling. I am sad that I won’t be able to see many of my friends as they are all going off to different places, but at the same time it is a new start to life with college. I am excited with new beginnings, but still reminisce about the times I had with everyone in high school.
