English teacher Melissa Kaplan grades assignments in between class periods. Kaplan has been teaching in MCPS for over 15 years, and has had "serious concerns" about the county's grading policy "ever since they got rid of final exams and changed to the trend grading for the semester grade," she said.

Students walk to their afternoon exam after a long morning of classes. Students this year were expected to go to school all day even if they had AP exams in the morning or afternoon. This is a change from previous years' policy.
