This year’s SGA spring project had a lot in store for the student body. Alongside raising awareness and giving back to the community, SGA held new and fun activities every day of the week in the Commons. But which one was the most enjoyed by students?
A quick rundown of each day’s main events: Monday was friendship bracelets and card making, Tuesday was rock painting, Wednesday was making care packages, Thursday was a game of feud, and Friday was the famous color run.
First place easily goes to the color run. The finisher for the week allows students and staff to walk/run a simple course and get colorful powder thrown onto them by their friends. “This was my first year doing color runs but it definitely was not my last. It was so fun to be able to do this with my friends and coming back onto the field covered in color,” junior Joy Nadda said.
The runner-up behind the color run would be a classic game of feud with two groups of students competing against each other to answer questions related to school events and staff, providing a bit of disorganized fun for not only the students participating but also the spectators. “I thought that my favorite day was the second day. I really liked the rock painting outside and the games in the gym were really fun but now that I’m at Wootton Feud, I’d say that this is the most fun,” junior Branden Estrada.
Coming in at number three is day two with rock painting, held outside on a day when there were no clouds in the sky, the sun was shining, and the air was warm. Students could pick out of a pile of rocks to paint whatever their hearts desired. “The rock painting was without a doubt my favorite day. It was outside in the courtyard, which was so nice because the weather was perfect and I had a really good time hanging out with my friends and painting the rocks,” Nadda said.
In fourth place is the friendship bracelets. The opening day of the week was no letdown but making a friendship bracelet is harder than it may seem and requires much more skill than any of the other events held by the SGA.
In last place is the making of care packages – a fun and thoughtful activity but it doesn’t compare to what the SGA had in store for the other days. “I thought it was very well put together and that it’s important for our school to give back to the community because we are a part of the community but some of the other events this week were just more fun,” junior Cayla Schwartz said.
