Students love nearby restaurants
Whether you’re hungry on the way home from school, or just need a bite for lunch, there are endless options in the school’s area. From Fallsgrove to the Research Boulevard plaza, there is always a place for you.
Students often enjoy going after school or practice to Fallsgrove, or popularly known as “Falls,” which has well-liked restaurants such as Chipotle, Panera, Starbucks, Krispy Kreme, Jersey Mike’s and WingStop. Junior Erin McGinness, who is on the varsity girls’ basketball team, enjoys going to Jersey Mikes post-games. “At Jersey Mike’s I get a turkey and provolone sub, which is the perfect post-game meal,” McGinness said.
Along with Jersey Mike’s, Panera is one of the most popular restaurants in Fallsgrove. Numerous students enjoy going to Panera, either having team bonding, like junior Caroline Stasko, or going after school with friends, like sophomore Kailey Waxman. “On half days I like to go with my friends to Fallsgrove and recently I have been getting Panera for lunch,” Waxman said.
Chipotle is another of the more popular restaurants in the center. On half days, the restaurants will be filled with students. Much like most of the student population, senior Victoria Doti’s favorite place to eat near school is Chipotle. “My favorite place to eat food near school is Chipotle because it has a variety of foods and any combination can be so good, however my favorite thing to get there is a chicken burrito bowl,” Doti said.
Outside of Fallsgrove, the Traville Village Center holds many popular places. The center is home to Bageltowne Deli, a weekend brunch favorite, Cava Mezze, a Greek sit-down restaurant, Potomac Pizza, a favorite for pizza in the Rockville/Potomac area, and BBQ Chicken, an up and coming chicken restaurant. It was also recently announced that a Dunkin Donuts will soon be opening in the center.
Near Trader Joe’s, less than 10 minutes from the school, there are more popular restaurants. If you are looking for something light, Tropical Smoothie Cafe is perfect for you. The chain has flatbreads and paninis, as well as smoothies. Another favorite is Ledo’s Pizza, which you can differentiate from other pizzas by their square shape. Hangry Joe’s Chicken is a new and popular restaurant. Cafe Rio also features a Mexican make-your-own salad, and is known for their queso and chips.
Research Boulevard Plaza has Grill Kabob, Robeks and Chick-Fil-A. Chick-Fil-A is a popular place to go after school, with options such as chicken nuggets, chicken sandwiches, fries or a milkshakes. Doti enjoys going to Chick-Fil-A when she is less hungry. “When I am not that hungry I love going to Chick-Fil-A and getting fries and sometimes a milkshake since they don’t fill me up as much and it is still very good,” Doti said.
