With a rocky season so far, boys’ volleyball has come back with several wins and fewer losses.
On April 24, the boys went up against Richard Montgomery. The patriots fell to the Rockets offensive assault, but narrowly played out, stealing the first set 26-25 but losing the game. Sophomore Kevin Jordan had his best passing game of the season.
Although the boys have lost a total of three of their games, they still have an impressive winning record considering the circumstances. “Right now it’s a transition period for the boys, we’re kind of the trial team. Only four of our players are experienced,” senior Kevin Choi said.
On April 26 the boys gave an all-hands-on-deck performance, ending with the Patriots defeating Sherwood in straight sets with a score of 0-3. Special contributions were made in the front row by Nathan Yen and in the back row by Will Sherman. “I believe we are on the path to success,” Yen said.
On, April 28, the boys found their stride in a sweep of Springbrook, winning with a score of 3-0 thanks to a strong play from junior Aaron Zheng.
On May 1, the boys offense stalled and combusted against a more consistent Wheaton team. “We did lose this game but it was still fun to be out there playing. We’re just getting to know what each player can do, their weaknesses and strengths on the court,” Sherman said.
The boy’s next game is on May 5 and was too late to be covered in this issue.
