Audiences didn’t know what to expect when the trailer for Warner Brothers’ Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore was released. However, on Apr. 15 questions were finally answered once the movie premiered.

Fans were excited to see what would happen in this upcoming film. The majority of the film’s audience has been following the wizarding world for over a decade. They had high expectations and there was huge anticipation building on this movie.

Warner Brothers’ Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is the third installment in the Fantastic Beasts film series and the ninth overall in the Wizarding World franchise, serving as a spin-off of and prequel to the Harry Potter film series, inspired by the 2001 guide book of the same name by Rowling.

The movie is primarily based around the screenplay of the same name that will be released in July. It centers around Professor Albus Dumbledore, who knows that the powerful, dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald is moving to seize control of the wizarding world. Unable to stop him alone, he entrusts magizoologist Newt Scamander to lead an intrepid team of wizards and witches. They soon encounter an array of old and new beasts as they clash with Grindelwald’s growing legion of followers.

Warner Brothers’ Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore,” like the rest of the movies in the franchise, were set to have Johnny Depp reprise his role as Grindelwald. However, Depp was removed from the Fantastic Beasts franchise by Warner Brothers after he lost his libel case against the UK tabloid The Sun, which had referred to him as a “wife-beater” amid his divorce from Amber Heard. Even though there is a new defamation trial in public favor of Depp, Warner Brothers continued on with the movie by casting Mads Mikkelsen to play his role instead.

In addition to the controversy, Warner Brothers Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore isn’t doing well in the box office and isn’t getting the numbers the producers were anticipating. As of now, Warner Brothers’ Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore has the lowest box office score of the Wizarding World’s franchise. In addition, it is getting a lot of mixed reviews from the audience.

I won’t spoil anything else about the film, you will have to see it yourself. However, there are still talks of a possible fourth installment in the franchise, although it sounds unlikely. In addition, there are also talks of a new movie in the works called Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, so hopefully the viewers will get to see more of the wizarding world in the coming years.
