Gordon Ramsey brings heat to D.C. with announcement of Hell’s Kitchen restaurant
Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey is bringing the heat to D.C. with the third Hell’s Kitchen restaurant in America. The restaurant will be located in the Wharf, but a set date and location in the Wharf have not been announced yet.
At first, I thought that Ramsey’s show would be coming to D.C., but it is just the restaurant. Ramsey is a television personality and 16 Michelin star chef. Although it’s just the restaurant, Ramsey is known for his famous TV show with the same name. Twelve contestants around the U.S. get selected to compete for the chance to be a head chef at one of Ramsey’s restaurants. The stress and tension between contestants build for an entertaining show. “I’m always watching Hell’s Kitchen on Youtube. The show is so interesting and makes me laugh and still keeps me at the edge of my seat to see who wins,” sophomore Omar Jobe said.
The Wharf’s phase 2 is going to be fully renovated with new restaurants and residential homes. While Hell’s Kitchen is in talks for opening, another restaurant owned by Ramsey, Fish and Chips, will open its doors this year. Hell’s Kitchen offers rich and authentic American cuisine. Items like Beef Wellington were popularized in the show and the way it is presented and plated would make you want to go all the way to Las Vegas, but you won’t have to wait anymore. “I had the chance to eat at Hell’s Kitchen in Las Vegas and while it was super expensive, the food was incredible. We got to see Gordon and it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had.” sophomore Angel Escobar said
Hell’s Kitchen will be two stories high and 16,081 square feet. This location will be two times bigger than the one in Las Vegas. A place like this is obviously going to be very expensive, but the product you get is top tier. Competition in D.C. is increasing and for Hell’s Kitchen to survive they need Ramsey’s influence and popularity for this restaurant to succeed.
With the space that the restaurant has and the popularity of the show, this restaurant will be a massive success and I will check it out. “This place looks sick and I will definitely check it out with my family,” sophomore Kasra Dokhaee said.
