Star Wars bounty hunter Boba Fett gets his own show
The Book of Boba Fett, starring Temuera Morrison, gives Star Wars fans an exclusive look into the life of Boba Fett. Released several weeks ago on Dec. 29, the show is streaming exclusively on Disney plus.
In this series, Boba Fett, who was once a great bounty hunter, has said those days are behind him. Now Boba Fett wants to rule the criminal underworld that Jabba the Hutt once loomed over. The show has already released three episodes and plans to finish off season one with seven total episodes. Each episode will be released weekly every Wednesday until Feb. 9. “I have been so excited for the release ever since they announced the show was happening,” junior Abraham Laban said.
The Book of Boba Fett picks up about five years after Boba’s presumed death in Return of the Jedi in the original Star Wars trilogy. This time period is the same as the other Star Wars spin off, The Mandalorian. The Return of the Jedi is the sixth of the Star Wars movies and The Book of Boba Fett takes place 25 years before the next movie in the series, The Force Awakens.
Boba Fett is one of the most feared bounty hunters in the galaxy. A bounty hunter is a person who pursues a criminal or fugitive for whom a reward is offered. The most famous of Boba Fett’s captures is Han Solo in the movie “The Empire Strikes Back.” “Boba Fett is one of the most underrated characters in Star Wars and I’m so glad he finally has his own show to explore his character more,” junior Ethan Kuan said.
Boba Fett appeared in the second season of the Mandolorian as a tease for his upcoming show. “When I watched that Mandolorian episode I was shocked to see him, and I’m sure so many other people were shocked too,” sophomore Daniel Son said.
The show explores the well-known desert planet of Tatooine, in a way that no other Star Wars movie or TV series has before. Tatooine is the home of Anakin Skywalker and the place where Luke Skywalker was raised. Star Wars fans know that Tatooine is a pretty irrelevant planet, but in this show it’s the center of attention.
The main Star Wars movies are most likely finished after the release of The Rise of Skywalker, but thanks to Disney plus, Star Wars fans are in for a big treat with all the shows coming out. Disney plus allows for characters to be better developed and that’s exactly what they are doing with this movie. “I love what they are doing with Disney plus, not just with Star Wars shows but also the Marvel shows as well,” Junior Nikhil Bakshi said.
