Starbucks versus Dunkin’ Donuts… which one prevails?
What better way to start your day than with a cup of coffee? It is the perfect pick-me-up to get anyone through their day and can be consumed iced or warm, with or without cream, sweet or unsweetened. To sum it up, coffee is extremely customizable and a reliable source of energy. The hard part is not choosing what to put in the coffee but rather where to buy it.
Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts hold the titles of the two largest coffee chains, with locations across the country. While both companies produce a wide range of products, including baked goods, breakfast sandwiches, snacks, teas, refreshers, and more, they are known for their coffee. “Drinking a cup of coffee every day when I wake up has become a part of my routine. It helps keep me awake and energized throughout the whole day, plus I love the taste of it. I don’t really care where I get my coffee from, but if I had to choose, I would choose Starbucks,” senior Hank Breen said.
Though the names of their cup sizes might be confusing to some, it does not take away from the fact that Starbucks customers love the coffee itself. “Starbucks coffee is without a doubt better than Dunkin’ Donuts. Don’t get me wrong, Dunkin’ Donuts is still really good, but it is not as strong as Starbucks coffee. I like the fact that Starbucks has so many options and different types of drinks; I am not always in the mood for coffee, so I get something else,” sophomore Ethan Kuan said.
Pretty in pink and orange, Dunkin’ Donuts is the home to donuts as well as coffee. Their low prices make purchasing a cup of coffee even more enjoyable. “I get coffee from Dunkin every single day. It’s so convenient, and it makes my day 10 times better; I’m not even kidding. It is much cheaper than Starbucks, which is a plus side because I can actually afford to get it every day without my parents getting mad,” senior Riya Kohli said.
When it comes to the different milk options and sweeteners to add to your coffee, Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts offer quite a wide variety to choose from. Starbucks recently added oat milk to its menu, and Dunkin’ Donuts recently introduced coconut milk to its stores. “In my personal opinion, Dunkin’ Donuts is better than Starbucks because it just tastes better to me. You can’t ever go wrong with their iced coffee with cream and sugar. Also, they recently added coconut milk to their menu, and I can’t wait to try it the next time I get coffee,” junior Jenna Siman said.
