Girls’ lacrosse striving to improve

Junior varsity girls’ lacrosse finished out last year’s season with a winning record of 5-4, and look to have another great season with returning sophomores Sydney Reiser, Darcy Touchette, and freshmen Nicole Jezek, Olivia Kim, and Anna Keneally as they look to make their mark on the field.

Jezek just picked up the sport and was a little unsure on her chances of making the team. “It felt nice to make the team, especially after just learning how to play. Tryouts were very hard, but I was happy to meet the great coaches, ” Jezek said.

Freshman Giselle Guillen is in a similar boat as Jezek. Jezek played on JV soccer in the fall, and Guillen was on cross country, so they already know about the team spirit and they have athletic experience. “I feel very honored to be on the team. Eighteen kids tried out, and half of them got cut. The coaches are really good, and are helping me become a great player,” Guillen said.

Freshman Olivia Kim is more experienced as she has been playing lacrosse since fourth grade. “I plan on continuing my career in lacrosse and play all through high school because I love the sport,” Kim said.

The coaches haven’t just helped on varsity. Kim also has gained a great relationship with Zucconi and Fletcher. “The coaches are very encouraging and get right to the point. They always push me to do my best and play my hardest,” Kim said.
