Teen found dead in wooded area –
A senior from Whitman was found dead in the woods by Bethesda on Dec. 9. According to WTOP, the teens name is Navid Nicholas Sepehri and was 17 years old. Police responded to a underage party and when they arrived, the police saw a group of teenage boys who left the party and were waiting for their rides. The police saw no reason to charge the teens, so the police let them go home. Later that night Sepehri’s dad told police that his son did not come home and was missing. Police later found Sepehri’s body in a stream around 5 p.m. on Dec. 9. Montgomery County police are investigating.

Cold weather increases risk of main water breaking –
There are usually 1,800 water breaks per year but 1,200 out of 1,800 water breaks happen during November through February. According to WTOP, almost 40 percent of WSSC water mains are over 50 years old and the cold adds to the brittleness to the pipes, making it easier for the pipes to split. Earlier in the school year, Robert Frost had water pipes break. The WSSC replaces the broken pipes with zinc-coated ductile iron pipes, which adds 75 to 100 years of life to the pipes. Although the zinc-coated pipes cost more, it will be more beneficial in the long run.

Man charged with sending taunt texts to Montgomery County Officer –
After an officer gave a man, Eugene Matusevitch, a citation, the man sent taunting texts to the officer. According to WTOP, the officer received texts of harassment about his body size and one of the texts contained the officer’s social security number. Matusevitch is being charged with harassment.
