Math Team goes to UMCP for math competition-
The math team competed at University of Maryland College Park to qualify for Part II of the University of Maryland competition. Five students on the math team qualified to participate in the second round. Senior Cao Yue and Feng Ruonan, juniors Derek Nie and Matthew Wu, and sophomore George Li qualified to compete. The team traveled to University of Maryland College Park to participate in Part II of the competition on Nov. 29. The results were released too late to be included in this issue.

All-National Band and Orchestra-
Seniors Arjun Guthal and Ashley Hsu made the All-National Band. Guthal was selected for his skills on the trumpet while Hsu was selected for her clarinet skills. Junior Aneesha Sampath, a violinist, made the All-National Orchestra. This is the first time the school history that three students were selected to participate. They performed at All-National Ensembles that occurred from Nov. 26 to Nov. 29.

Fundraising for Homeless Veterans-
Senior thespian club officers Becca Korn and Kyle Hermary raised $1,098.05 for the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans. They were able to raise the money through the fall show Much Ado About Nothing. They collected donations after the show and want to collect more money at the shows for charities whose goal is related to theatre in some way. They plan to do this again with their spring musical The Music Man to raise money for schools that need music instruments. If anyone has an idea about a school that needs the money, they should talk to English teacher Jessica Speck.
