On March 1 the girls’ junior varsity lacrosse team held their tryouts for the spring season. With their new team the JV lacrosse team has begun practicing for their upcoming season opener against Bethesda Chevy Chase on March 7.
The team has begun scrimmaging against other schools to prepare for the season. The team lost to B-CC 8-6. However, it didn’t take long for the team to put themselves on track as they were able to make a comeback with a 14-1 win against Blake. “As a goalie, I need to work more on my defense so I don’t cause the team any potential wins,” freshman goalie Kadian Griffin said.
The team will begin the season with their new head coach, Lauren Zucconi. Zucconi will replace the previous year’s JV coach Casey Fletcher. Zucconi has the team practicing Monday through Friday after school to prepare for the long season ahead. “I am looking forward to progressing as a team,” sophomore midfielder Avery Breen said.
After a difficult season last year with three wins, four losses, and two ties the team is more dedicated than ever to have a great season. “So far the workouts have been challenging but they are rewarding and will help up in future” sophomore midfielder Carson Blum said.
Most of the team members hope to have a better understanding on the game and learn from their varsity counterparts. “Everyone is still trying to learn the game. We’re all working on communicating better and getting better as a whole,” Griffin said.
