Money raised to help support Zhang family
Junior Charlie Zhang was diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis, a neurological condition in which the width of the spinal cord is inflamed. Within the past two months, a GoFundMe page was created to raise money to help the Zhang family. So far, $23,565 has been raised. In an effort to raise awareness and show support for Zhang, a student-staff basketball game was played on Nov. 10, and all funds for the game went toward supporting the Zhang family. Each grade got an opportunity to play against the staff. The seniors, lead by senior Joey Voyta, were able to get a victory in overtime and the juniors were able to get a win as well. The freshmen and sophomores were less successful and didn’t get a win over the staff. “The game was a great opportunity for the school to show support for Charlie and I wish him the best of luck in his recovery,” senior Jared Fishman said.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on Nov. 15 at the TobyTown Community Center in honor of the new bus route that runs from Rockville to TobyTown. The new route has been effective since Oct. 2 and has been helpful to students. The route covers Travilah Road, Wootton Parkway, Falls Road and Great Falls Road, according to montgomerycountymd.gov. Route 301 will operate seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., according to montgomerycountymd.gov. The need was brought to attention by former teacher Randy Alton, who, with the help of local residents, eventually got this route created. During the initiation period, the bus will be white with the Montgomery County logo. In approximately one to two months, the bus will be replaced with a normal Ride-on-bus, according to montgomerycountymd.gov.
