JV Field Hockey: Team seeks to lengthen winning streak

JV+Field+Hockey%3A+Team+seeks+to+lengthen+winning+streak

The JV field hockey team has started the season according to plan.  On Sept. 6, they began their season with a dominating performance defeating Rockville at home 11-0.  They then traveled to Holy Cross, where they won a low scoring battle 1-0.
The season started off with a bang as scoring came from everywhere. They ran through Rockville with ease recording a shutout in their victory.  The skill level of the players was on a different level than the Rockville players and it showed as they scored effortlessly.
With the game being a lopsided affair, multiple players got to get in on the scoring.  Sophomores Caity Greenspun and Carli Mangum, both attack, lead the way each scoring three goals.  Freshman Jordan Rubin, midfield, joined in on the fun adding two goals herself.  Sophomores Kayla Hill, defense, Aneesha Sampath, attack, and Lily Greenburg, midfield, all also scored a goal.  Freshman goalie Demi Ellenbogen pitched a shutout in the net with the help of her strong defense.
The game against Holy Cross was completely different from the Rockville one.  In a game that tested their scoring ability, the team held on to defeat Holy Cross 1-0 behind the goal from Sampath, assisted by Hill. “In the end, we played hard and fought to get another goal, but they fought back, making it a tougher game than we were used to, but it gave us more experience and ways to get better,” Hill said.
The team will look to build off their strong start on Sept. 16 against Walter Johnson and then on Sep. 19 against Richard Montgomery.
